The 2nd Generation or 2G iPod Nano that was released in 2006 was a nice improvement over the 1st Generation Nano. With Apple’s new technology they reinvented the Nano using a new logic board layout, new exterior design, new color additions, and by relocating the headphone jack to the bottom next to the dock connector. The new design is sleek and offers a nice feel in your hands. The available colors for the 2G Nano are Silver, Pink, a powder Blue, a bright Green, and a flat Black. The exterior casing looks to be some type of aluminum or alloy that is coated with its color to give a nice metallic but flat color finish.

The second (2G) generation Nano offered three sizes that came in 2, 4, or 8Gb. The 8GB model was by far a nice improvement over the 4GB maximum size of the 1st Generation Nano. 8GB meant you could store double the music and possibly put a few thousand songs on the iPod Nano.

Apple also offered a special release edition of a red version. This model was only available in two sizes both the 4GB and 8Gb. It was developed in an effort of charity on Apple’s behalf. A percentage of the profits were donated to the Global Fund. It was a sincere gesture on Apple’s part to help fight Aids in Africa.

As far as functions are concerned not much has changed but a few additions were made to enhance the interface on the iPod Nano. They added a search feature on the Music screen. The search screen allows you to search by letter through your library stored on your iPod Nano. It is an intelligent search feature and goes beyond this by helping to find the correct music by author, track or album name.

Physically the Clickwheel on the iPod nano 2nd Generation is indented for a more rounded feel on your finger when you are using it. Some users have reported longer sync times with this version for some reason. Perhaps with the additional added features organizing the music takes more time with this model.

Overall it is a nice model that is light and appealing to the eye. It has no moving parts internally using a flash based memory for storage so doing activities such as biking, running, or hiking can be done without risk of ruining any of your data as easily. The iPod nano battery lasts a long time and the LCD is bright and functional

The new Apple iPod Nano is superslim and gorgeous iPod with a LCD screen. The device has a nimble processor and a no skipping system performance which is possible due to its flash memory. The iPod is easy to operate and works amazingly well with iTunes and iTunes Music Store, the world’s largest selection of music. The latest iPod has set all new standards in the field of gadget design. It boasts of the world’s first 4GB Flash player and it is one of the thinnest in the category. It has undoubtedly stretched the boundaries of latest technology a bit too far. The user friendly bright screen takes the advantages of new miniaturized designs in the LCDs giving you the capabilities of a much larger iPod in a smaller package.

Apple iPod Nano comes in three capabilities namely, 1GB, 2GB and 4GB. The device measures 3.5 x 1.6 x 0.27 inches and just weights 1.5 ounces which makes it a complete design wonder. The iPod is really thin and comfortably fits anywhere. Flash is the key word behind Nano’s slim design otherwise Nano could have never be so thin. Just think a skinnier device would be so impractical and useless but due to the Flash feature Nano is the world’s best luxury based MP3 player which beats the relatively newer microdrive market.

Flash based Nano is the first to hit 4GB flash based player with a capacity of 1,000 song which you can upload from your iTunes library. The 2GB version is capable to hold 500 tunes. The overall design of the Apple iPod Nano is sleek with a reflective backside made of stainless steel which makes it sturdy and a much smarter 1.5 inch LCD screen. The 1.25 inch Click Wheel (clickwheel) is much sleeker too. The hold switch is located on top of the device and the headphone jack and standard dock connector are placed underneath. It has a thin layer of acrylic glossy cover on its face and typically comes in either black or white. The iPod Nano battery is also a long lasting battery that will play for many hours.
